About Us

The Department of Sport and Sport Science (DSS) is one of the primary research institutions in the field of physical activity and health in Germany. Through a number of research projects, the DSS is involved in European and Worldwide discourses concerning Physical Activity and Health.

National and international cooperation

The DSS collaborates with leading institutions such as the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the European Union and is engaged in research projects with universities in over 20 nations.

Among agencies that are currently funding research projects at the DSS are the European Commission, the German Federal Ministries of Education and Research and the German Sickness and Pension Funds.
